According to newspaper reports, the government prosecutors are recommending that Sheldon Silver, former speaker of the New York State Assembly, be handed a 15 year prison sentence. The problem is that if he gets such a high sentence, he will not be eligible to be in a camp till he has 120 months left to serve. The next level is a low facility and those hold dangerous felons and his life will be in danger on a constant basis. It is as if everything this man has built is destroyed like a sand castle and he may have to pay back like 5 million dollars in forfeiture.
The man is 72 years old. Sending him away to jail for a long period is like a death sentence. Trust me, jail/prison/incarceration or whatever you want to call it is a nightmare.
The government really wants to bury this man. I do pray for him.
