Illegal Mexican Immigrant Becomes Lawyer in New York State
According to an article in the New York Times, Cesar Vargas, an immigrant who illegally crossed the border, was sworn in as a member of the New York Bar. He had a very difficult path and he finally made it. He must have struggled a lot. Now he must be careful to protect his law license.
See story here....http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/04/nyregion/immigrants-4-year-legal-fight-to-become-a-lawyer-ends-in-celebration.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fnyregion&action=click&contentCollection=nyregion®ion=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=5&pgtype=sectionfront&_r=0
I was a lawyer too. I was born in a foreign country but obtained citizenship at birth. My path was different than Mr. Vargas. I was corrupted by my clients and in the end of the day, I was thrown into prison like the biggest criminal in the world, disbarred and heavily fined. At least now I am out of prison and I have the freedom to write, thanks to google and other platforms. I hope my writing is a message of hope to all and that we all deserve a second chance as we are all human, from the same planet earth.
