Hurricane Matthew and God, any connection?

We just finished the Jewish New Year and we read that it is a time of judgement. We also hear about the destruction of Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean and it may impact the Southeast USA.

Is there any connection to God? Does God care what is happening in the world? Based on my analysis, God cares like the love of a father to a son.
