According to the US Attorney's office in Los Angeles, Ca, an Orange county man, Jeremy Nelson, plead guilty to running a debt relief scam and faces up to 20 years in prison upon sentencing. See article here. http://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/orange-county-man-operating-phone-room-debt-relief-scam-pleads-guilty-defrauding

He made his company out as a lawyer and law firm when he victimized people in financial distress, promising them relief from debt but simply stole their money. The article does not say how much he stole.

On complaintboard.com, I read some of the complaints against him. One reads as follows,"JHM&K HAVE RUINED MY LIFE....

I am 100% combat disabled Marine that lost EVERYTHING to this person (Jeremy Nelson). My credit is irreparable now and I have 'always' had great credit (for 44 yrs) until my wife left because of my injuries (Corps related) and my world imploded. I reached out to NELSON GAMBLE AND ASSOC. ((changed to JHMK later) for HELP at the weakest point in my existence. They took over $7,000 from me, DESTROYED MY CREDIT, AND NOW, I STILL OWE THOSE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES $17,500, 'AND' I AM BEING SUED BY BOTH!!!! I have always 'given' help when it wasn't always that easy to do it; 'always' thinking of 'others' first... And now? THEN, the very first time 'I' reach out for help... I am destroyed for trusting that my debt solution was BEING HANDLED!!! And now, I feel as though 'I have been left to die'.... on the very soil I swore to give my life for... I am alone, bleeding.... please God help my Family and I ... S/F. ABUSED... LEFT TO DIE...at 'home'"

I met another individual in FCI Otisville satellite camp who got approximately 9 years for the same type of white collar crime and his name Mr. Michael Levitis, who told me that he helped people out of debt relief and he felt that the Judge unfairly hammered him. What upsets me most is that it is not only him that is suffering but his young children who are now like orphans. When I was with him, he left behind a 7 year old daughter and a teenage son.  They are probably suffering the most. Unfortunately, the law does not take that into consideration and it should. Mr. Levitis is a mild mannered, easy going person and I wish him that his time goes by fast so that he reunites with his family.
