Jumper survives 200 foot fall into hudson river

A security guard near the bridge’s north tower spotted the woman in the Hudson River, apparently swimming, at about 5 p.m.
George Washington Bridge, scene of  a female jumper

A story appeared in the NY Daily News where it says that a woman was found in the hudson water after jumping off the George Washington bridge. She survived the 200 foot drop but suffered a severe leg injury. Her car was located on the side of a road so apparently she tried to take her life and commit suicide but failed. She was taken to St Lukes Hospital. After surgery, I assume she will be taken to a psyche ward to be evaluated and observed. See story here....http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/woman-25-survives-plunge-george-washington-bridge-article-1.2518202

I am no stranger to these type of tragedies. I know someone personally that jumped naked out of a third floor in Battery Park City and survived, albeit without any teeth, cut tongue in half and a multiple broken leg. The doctor explained to me that hitting concrete from the third floor is like smashing into two thousand pounds of concrete. The odds of surviving a fall from a third floor window is 50-50.  Otherwise, the person recovered. After the incident, the individual was in and out of mental institutions.

These are difficult stories to report on since you don't know what made the person attempt to take his/her life. It could be a monetary reason, loss of a job, loss of family or other tragedy prompting such drastic action.

My mother was killed on the St. Catherines skyway back on April 21, 1978. That was due to my father losing control of his vehicle. I document here...http://www.amazon.com/Day-My-Mother-Died-Frances-ebook/dp/B014HJ38SU
