Dusizneis talks about checking people if they are male or female but this actually happened in FCI Fort Dix where a Gerer chasid told someone he needs to check his bris. The Gerer chasid ended up in the SHU for that dastardly act.
My personal thoughts are that spirituality has to come from the heart. I cannot judge Mr./Mrs. Stein since I did not live in his shoes. I hope he finds happiness in his/her heart.
