Madoff of Landlords gets into hot water

According to the New York Times and New York Post, Steven Croman, who managed and or owned 140 buildings in New York, now faces felony charges regarding his business activities including tax fraud, in applying for loans. According to the NY Post, he harrassed tenants so that he can take back the apartment and get more rent or sell the property for more money. How can someone do such bad things? Money probably got to his head but in the end of the day, it won't help him when he sits in prison. He is lucky the feds did not pick up this case. It would have been a lot worse for him since feds are more aggressive and brutal.
