Private Jail Vans, what a shame on America

A story appeared in the NY Times documenting how private vans transport criminals across state lines and there is literally no oversight, leading people in these vans to face horrible conditions, leading in some cases to serious injury to death. See story here...http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/07/us/prisoner-transport-vans.html?&target=comments&hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&modref=HPCommentsRefer&clickSource=story-heading&module=photo-spot-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0#commentsContainer

I am no stranger from being transported in prison vans, especially in Canada, where I was taken from the west jail to the don jail in a paddy wagon. The ride was so bad you cannot tell if you are going forward or backward. That is how horrible it was.

As noted in the story, they mix violent and non violent criminals in the same van. Moreover, even the Federal B.O.P does the same thing in housing criminals. It puts everyone together, especially on pre trial. I was housed in same cell with a violent felon, although I was white collar and he even threatened to harm me. Such is the system of jails and prisons in America. A reality but a shameful and horrible one at that.
