As reported at the US Attorney, Newark office website, more people were sentenced and or took pleas for a scheme where doctors were bribed to send their lab work to Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services LLC (BLS), of Parsippany, New Jersey.
One individual received a 42 month sentence. He will have to sit 87.5 percent of the time. However, if he ends up in a camp, he may get up to 9 months of halfway house and including 6 months home confinement.
The upshot about this story is that professionals with licenses are constantly scheming to make money, and sometimes, crossing the line to make the money.
I met a doctor in Otisville who was part of this scam and got a 1 year sentence since he took a plea.
He would have gotten hammered if he went to trial and lost.
