Dr. Shanin Moshiri, convicted |
A federal judge cut a chicago podiatrist a big break by only giving him a three months prison sentence. Podiatrist Shanin Moshiri must report to Federal prison in March, 2016 after his conviction. He was part of a hospital patient referral kickbach scheme.
The article says that the judge was impressed with the doctor's letter of support. The federal prosecutor wanted the doctor to sit three years. Usually, the judges go with the wishes of the prosecutor. This will probably be one of the last times he uses a cell phone. No cell phones while in jail.
In my 1316 days of imprisonment, I came across a lot of doctors doing time for medicaid fraud, oxycodone distribution and kickback schemes.
