Essex County Correctional Facility where the guard raped a female inmate |
A former Essex County Corrections black male officer, Shawn Demitriu Shaw, was found guilty and convicted in a Federal trial in New Jersey of depriving an individual of rights under color of law and obstruction of justice. The first charge carries a maximum of life in prison and the second charge carries 20 years maximum in prison. The story says that the male corrections officer went into the lady's cell and she said "stop" and "no" and he still attacked and raped her. For the few seconds of his pleasure, he could be spending the rest of his life in jail. Was it worth it? Was the few seconds of lust worth a life time behind bars? I personally don't think so. Moreover, I have said time and time again that you cannot mix the genders, as the lust will sometimes over come the logic and you will end up with horrific crimes. The victim will have physical and mental trauma perhaps the rest of her life and she is probably still in jail for her unrelated crime. Is that just? With all of the laws in place and the posters hung in the elevators and the walls of the institutions and the public announcements about PREA or whatever they call it, it will never stop human nature. The only way to stop it is to simply put female guards in female institutions and male guards in male institutions.
The former corrections officer is now in MDC, Brooklyn, awaiting sentencing and is most likely in 7 North with the rest of the ex cops.
To read what life is in federal prison, please read my story, as I was in MDC and other places for 1316 days for a white collar crime . I regret the day I became a lawyer as it was the beginning of my downfall. See...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011GTWLOG
