According to reports from the daily news, a fire broke out amid a prison riot in Monterrey Mexico. See article here...http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/deadly-fire-breaks-mexican-prison-riot-article-1.2527923
Being in seven institutions myself, I always feared of never coming home due to a prison fire or riot.
The most violence I noticed was at MCC, Manhattan, where there bloody fist fights on a weekly basis. One time a guy poured hot water over someone's face and that almost caused a free for all till the guards broke it up. Two inmates were literally fighting by tossing and turning over each other on the floor. Every one was looking to watch the spectacle. The little C.O. was screaming, get back to your cells, get back to your cells and the fight ended when the goon squad came in and broke it up.
In my opinion, fighting is inevitable in these circumstances since you are holding human beings in a small area against there will and animosity and hatred of people you never met and don't want to be with is breeding and it explodes in a bloody fight.
