According to the US Attorney's office, Momoud Aref Abaji, 34, of  Huntington Beach, Ca, was convicted of running a builder bailout rescue scheme.

Mr. Abaji and co conspirators bought  condos from around the country and defaulted on payments, causing losses to lenders. They got the loans based on fraudulent loan applications using straw buyers including fake w-2, job letters and bank statements etc.  The government says he faces 190 years upon sentencing. Losses were estimated at 9 million dollars.  See story here...http://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/orange-county-man-faces-nearly-200-years-prison-after-being-convicted-federal-charges

The defendant's name sounds North African Muslim.

What lesson can we learn from this story? When you make money or even wealth dishonestly, in the end you will lose it  and be proved a fool, as noted by Jeremiah 17:11.

What can Mr. Abaji expect in prison? I was in Federal Prison for 1316 days. It was one of the most difficult and challenging times of my life. I wrote about it here....http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011GTWLOG

I was originally facing 78 to 97 months based on a plea and after filing my sentencing letter, I received 60 months or five years. See sentencing letter....http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AF5RVZG
